A chorus effects recreates the sound associated with several individual instruments that are close to the same tone, note, and key being played at once. Instruments (or voices) are never exactly in tune with each other which gives the chorus effect it's unique clean, lush sound. A similar effect can be heard when playing a 12 string guitar that is tuned in octaves. This natural sound of a 12 string brings out all the lush, chorus sounds.
